What is the fault and what does our repair kit do:
 
The intake manifold linkage wears out and breaks, causing vehicle malfunctions.
Mercedes OM642 V6 vehicles have issues with the intake manifold; the swirl flaps in this manifold are operated by an external operating linkage. It is made of poor-quality plastic that wears out prematurely.
Swirl flaps are designed to assist with low-end torque and fuel economy. Over time, the plastic wears out at the connection points to the manifold, creating an oval shape that eventually lifts the rod, leading to breakages that cause the aforementioned malfunctions.
 
A physical inspection of the intake manifold will often show the rod broken in half. The wear is due to the plastic being of the wrong specification for this task; it cannot cope with the heat and constant mechanical movement.
 
These intake manifolds can also become heavily clogged with carbon deposits, which can make it difficult for the swirl flaps to move, leading to more strain on the engine and the linkage.
 
You can usually identify this problem by removing the engine cover and inspecting the intake manifold; often, the linkage is broken, or you can test for excessive play in the rod connection.

The intake manifold linkage wears out and breaks, causing vehicle malfunctions.
Mercedes OM642 V6 vehicles have problems with the intake manifold, the swirl flaps in this manifold are controlled by an external operating linkage. It is made of poor quality plastic that wears out prematurely.
Swirl flaps are designed to assist with low-end torque and fuel economy. Over time, the plastic wears out at the connection points with the manifold, creating an oval shape that eventually lifts the rod, leading to breakages causing the malfunctions noted above.
 
Physical inspection of the intake manifold will often show that the rod is broken in half. The wear is due to the plastic being the wrong specification for the task; it cannot handle the heat and constant mechanical movement.
 
These intake manifolds can also become heavily clogged with carbon deposits, which can make the swirl flaps difficult to move, which in turn puts more stress on the engine and linkage.
 
You can usually identify this problem by removing the engine cover and inspecting the intake manifold; often the rod is broken or you can test for excessive play in the rod connection.

THE ERROR:
 
The intake manifold lever wears out and gets damaged, causing vehicle malfunctions.
Mercedes OM642 V6 vehicles have intake manifold problems, the swirl flaps in this manifold are controlled by an external operating lever. It is made of poor quality plastic that wears out prematurely.
Swirl flaps are designed to assist with low-end torque and fuel economy. Over time, the plastic wears out at the connection points to the manifold, creating an oval shape that eventually lifts the rod, leading to breakages causing the malfunctions noted above.
 
Physical inspection of the intake manifold will quite often show the rod broken in half. The wear is due to the plastic being the wrong specification for the task; it cannot cope with the heat and constant mechanical movement.
 
These intake manifolds can also become heavily clogged with carbon deposits, which can make it difficult for the swirl flaps to move, which in turn puts more stress on the engine and the lever.
 
You can usually identify this problem by removing the engine cover and inspecting the intake manifold; often the lever is broken, or you can test for excessive play in the rod linkage.
