Here are a few basic steps before buying a sport muffler online without the risk of making a mistake:
- Definitely check the car from underneath on a lift or pit, paying attention to what shape muffler you will need – oval or round;
- Pay attention to the arrangement of the inlets and outlets of the original exhaust system – number and arrangement. Usually, the options are as follows:
- One inlet and one outlet;
- Two inlets and one outlet;
- One inlet and two outlets;
- One inlet and one offset outlet;
- T-shaped muffler;
- And others.
- Be sure to measure the diameter of the original exhaust system with calipers. Standard sizes in the automotive industry are usually φ51 / φ63 / φ76 mm, but there are exceptions and variations.
- Last but not least – be sure to measure the available space in your car. Length, width, and height that you can fit.
If you follow these four steps, you can easily choose your new sport muffler and save yourself headaches, unnecessary money for double labor at the mechanic, and courier costs.
